What Does Your Qual-Port Say About You?
Dec 29, 2009 Topics: commercial construction industry
To find out….we surveyed 18 commercial construction industry buyers from across Florida. They were a tough crowd, made up of 4 facilities managers, 2 real estate developers, 6 chief estimators and 6 project managers. We sent the group a direct link to 2 different Qual-Ports in JobSite123.com, and asked them to answer the following question: What do these Qual-Ports say about these companies?
Qual-Port #1 belonged to KHS&S Contractors – a large scale interiors and exteriors contracting firm headquartered on both coasts (Tampa, FL and Anaheim, CA). KHS&S’s Qual-Port is nearly 100% rocked out – with highly detailed information in every template, including an attractive homepage image, a promotional video, tons of project experience and impressive client performance ratings. KHS&S’s information is complete, current and visually pleasing.

Qual-Port #2 belonged to a prominent electrical contractor whose name we will not reveal. This company completed the Qual-Port start-up wizard only, and never took the time to go back into the system and complete all of the templates provided – despite being asked to do so by two of their clients. Therefore, this contractor’s Qual-Port contains the minimal information required to be in our search engine, which is basically their company name, address, and geographical service area.

Here is a summary of the responses received from our survey group about Qual-Port #1 from KHS&S Contractors:
- This company respects my time.
- They don’t want me to have to work hard to find information about them – they want me to have it all right here at my fingertips – very smart.
- They are proud of their qualifications. You can tell.
- They have a lot of industry connections (to other companies that I know) and solid referrals.
- I usually associate them with high-end hospitality work; I didn’t realize they had so much healthcare experience.
- They could bond a project that we are considering pursuing.
- I had no idea they did such elaborate fountain work.
- This company pays attention to details and takes the time to do things right – you can tell by the way they completed this Qual-Port.
Conversely, here’s what they had to say about Qual-Port #2 – from the electrical contractor:
- This company does not respect my time – they must want me to have to call them and ask for the information I need, rather than just giving it to me here.
- They don’t understand the value of this tool – they must not realize how much time and effort we waste chasing down this kind of information.
- You can tell they just did the bare minimum.
- Not much to say on this one.
- I actually know this company – and this is a poor reflection on them, when compared to their competitors.
