New Marketing Benefit for Members of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)
Oct 7, 2010 jobsite123 User Experiences, press and media
jobsite123.com is growing in popularity as more and more construction and design business leaders realize that being a part of an online community of related companies provides much more visibility than their stand-alone website. This trend attracted ABC to create a marketing partnership with jobsite123.com for the benefit of ABC members. In addition to coaching ABC members on exactly what information they should showcase online about their company, jobsite123.com increases their online exposure by putting them in a community that also includes non-ABC member companies. By allowing all companies related to the commercial construction industry to build a profile, and jumpstarting its nationwide growth with 25,000 ABC member companies, jobsite123.com is well on its way to becoming the industry’s biggest and most effective search and prequalification tool.
“How could we afford to NOT have a complete and current profile in jobsite123? Our absence would speak volumes!”
– Brenda Burtch, Operations Manager at Elcon Electric

Not Interested in Higher Profit Margins on Federal Construction Projects?
Oct 1, 2010 Surveys
We recently surveyed our national database, which includes: architects, engineers, general contractors, specialty contractors, material suppliers and other companies related to the commercial construction industry. The percentage of companies that answered NO to one of the questions was particularly startling to us…
This was the exact survey Q&As:
Would you like to learn how to make HIGHER than average profit margins on federal construction projects?
Yes 72%
No 28%
We think it’s amazing that so many companies said NO.
Translation: it’s not likely that 28% of the industry is so fat and happy with work right now that they would rather not learn how to make more money with federal construction projects…what’s more likely is that the 28% that said NO are so intimidated by the federal process that they don’t believe that learning more would be worth their time.
Internet Marketing is Easier for Companies in the Commercial Construction Industry
Sep 8, 2010 jobsite123 User Experiences
Companies in the commercial construction industry have felt ‘nickel and dimed’ by businesses trying to make a living off of them for years. However, jobsite123.com’s business model focuses on making as many of its online marketing solutions as possible free to companies in the commercial construction industry. Just by having a profile in jobsite123, companies inherently piggyback on the internet marketing that jobsite123.com does for all of the members in their community of companies – and then, many companies are simply cross-linking their profile with their website for additional exposure.
“At KHS&S, we are always looking for creative and effective ways to increase awareness for our company’s capabilities. The growing amount of industry traffic that is going to jobsite123 basically allows us to multiply our company’s online exposure with a free profile that we cross-link with our company website.” – Janet Puglisi, Director of Marketing at KHS&S Contractors

Launch of B2B Web Portal is Perfectly Timed for the Economic UpSwing
Sep 7, 2010 commercial construction industry, marketing tips, press and media
Social media websites are great for people that want to connect with their friends or colleagues. LinkedIn goes a step further by also providing its users with the ability to display their resume, and YELP is gaining momentum for local business-to-consumer (B2C) companies. But what about industry? To date, the online equivalent for business-to-business (B2B) buyers and sellers to connect has not existed. Until now.
The visionaries at jobsite123 recognized this need in the market. The idea is simple: provide a web portal that allows companies in the commercial construction industry to easily meet and qualify each other.
jobsite123 is the source that businesses use to find the critical information required to establish and maintain B2B relationships. In fact, the content in jobsite123’s company profiles is more relevant than the company information displayed in 99% of B2B websites. This means that a completely filled-out company profile in jobsite123 usually ranks higher in Google and Bing than that company’s website. Creating revenue from the internet is all about being found by your target audience, and jobsite123 has figured it out for the B2B world.
Companies that claim and build-out their free profile are already experiencing a competitive advantage. By sending their jobsite123 digital business card to prospects, they are able to stand-out from their competition with the answers that matter most to decision makers. Combined with jobsite123’s cutting-edge marketing tactics that promote its community of member companies, early adopters of jobsite123 are already getting more awareness for their small-to-medium-size-businesses (SMB).
Is Green Building Just a Fad?
Aug 31, 2010 Surveys
In a recent survey, we asked companies in the commercial construction and design industry what they thought about green building. The exact survey Q/A was as follows:
Does your company believe that the green building movement is here to stay?
Yes 80%
No 20%
We agree that green building is here to stay. And to the 20% that don’t agree…FYI: just go into Google and search for “green building”. It returns 120 million results. That’s huge validation and momentum for green building.
We hope these survey results help you to position your company to take advantage of this undeniable building trend. Good luck out there, Fella.

Find + Qualify Local Contractors Online According to their Service Area
Aug 25, 2010 jobsite123 User Experiences
Local expertise is often at the top of a commercial construction buyer’s list of requirements. The reason is due to the fact that construction project methods, players, permitting and politics vary greatly by location. So when all things are equal among two electricians bidding on a new hotel project, except that one has experience navigating the city’s inspections process, the company with the local experience will likely get the job.
jobsite123’s company profile system allows commercial construction and design companies to appear in search results for the GCs and Owners searching online for resources by U.S. City and County. And once their jobsite123.com company profile is complete for each office location, buyers will be able to further consider them for a project because they will also see their local project experience, performance, company connections and other qualifications-related information.
“Tri-City services clients and projects throughout Florida by having multiple office locations that employ local tradesmen with local market knowledge. jobsite123 allows our offices to be found online with its brilliantly simple approach to the local search and qualify process. We are proud to be on the leading edge of this new technology.”
– Jack Olmstead, President of Tri-City Electrical Contractors
Established in 1958 and headquartered in Altamonte Springs Florida, Tri-City’s 800 employees serve the entire state from its four Florida office locations. Tri-City’s company profile for its Tampa office is currently averaging 1,000 views per month, and the completion of the profiles for their three other office locations are in-progress.
To have your company begin appearing in search results for the market areas that you competitively service, start by building your complete qualifications profile on jobsite123.com.
Commercials for Construction Companies + Design Firms are Not Common, YET
Aug 24, 2010 Surveys
Video is very effective, but only when it reaches the intended target audience. And although television is expensive, it is an effective way to reach consumers. So how do businesses that sell to other businesses (B2B) use video to promote their products and services? Answer: the internet.
In a recent survey, we learned that well over half of the companies in the commercial construction and design industry would not create a video for their B2B product/service. The exact question and answers was as follows:
Would your company create a television-quality commercial if there was a way to reach your exact target market with it?
No 65%
Yes 35%
The reason 65% of companies said “No” is likely because they are not aware of how inexpensive and easy it can be to create an effective commercial for their company, and get it LIVE on the web. They’re probably also not sure where on the web to post it. No matter what the exact reason for having not created a company commercial and uploading it to the web, we believe B2B company commercials will quickly become much more common, and we see this as an opportunity for early adopters to gain a competitive advantage.
Our database of commercial construction and design companies throughout the U.S. includes architects, engineers, general contractors, specialty contractors, material suppliers and related vendors/corporate services.
FYI: there are company commercials in jobsite123.com that are already getting hundreds of views per month…(we’ve only barely bugun to promote this feature)
Membership in Trade Organizations is Beneficial – if you Participate
Aug 20, 2010 Surveys
The value of belonging to a trade organization is obvious to the majority of companies in the commercial construction and design industry. At least two reasons are: 1) networking opportunities and 2) the credibility that comes with memebership in a prominent Org.
How many business/trade organizations does your company belong to?
7% None.
10% 1 Org.
17% 2 Orgs.
22% 3 Orgs.
45% More than 3 Orgs.
How many business networking events does someone from your company attend each month?
20% 0 Networking Events
35% 1 Networking Event
20% 2 Networking Events
13% 3 Networking Events
12% More than 3 Networking Events
It’s interesting that 93% of companies in the industry belong to at least 1 Industry Org, but a full 20% don’t participate in it. Just belonging is not enough…you have to participate in order to get a good return on the expense of your membership dues.
Our survey database of commercial construction and design companies throughout the U.S. includes 3,000 architecture, engineering, general contracting, specialty contracting, material supplier, and related vendor/corporate service companies.
Not nurturing your existing business relationships?
Aug 18, 2010 Surveys
In a recent survey, we learned that an alarming percentage of companies are not following up with their existing relationships. The question and answers were as follows:
Which of the following is the most effective way your company nurtures its existing business relationships?
48% Breakfast/Lunch Meetings
8% Golf Outings
7% Sporting Event Tickets
3% Fishing Trips
33% Other
The 33% that answered “Other” mostly commented that they “just provide excellent service” or ”don’t do anything”. Please keep in mind in this fiercly competitive economy: if you don’t follow-up with your relationships, your competitors will.
