Brenda was 1 of over 100 contracting professionals we asked to serve on our development committee for the beta-design of our Qual-Ports – with over 20 years of sales, marketing and operations experience in the commercial construction industry, she continues to help guide the evolution of our features and functionality. Along with Jim McConchie – President of Elcon Electric – Brenda’s team was one of the first major specialty contractors in Florida to start building a Qual-Port in JobSite123.com.
During one of our design meetings, the group enjoyed spirited conversation about the potential of JobSite123.com, and how those companies who jump on board early (and complete thier Qual-Port robustly) will be credited as early adopters and industry leaders. As the meeting wrapped up, Brenda offered some profound insight into the collective mind of our users. She said, “In a short period of time…I think your absence from JobSite123.com will speak louder than your presence.” She stopped everyone in thier tracks, and we all sat there for a minute soaking in the clarity of her words.
She was 100% right – both then and now. I’ve seen it with my own eyes.

Me too – although my winter break this year is not as slow and relaxing as others in the past. However, the continued rapid growth of JobSite123 is a welcome challenge. So this year, between Christmas and New Year’s, I find myself with a few extra hours in the evenings and on the weekends…which feels like a bunch of mini-vacations. I’m using this extra time to reflect about what happened last year and think through how I want to execute next year’s plan to meet demand. I also find myself thinking about these uncertain times for many in the commercial construction industry, and I wanted to share two observations that I hope will remind you about your business’s opportunities. These may seem obvious when you read them, but I hope you reflect further and consider addressing both points with specifics in your Business Plan for 2010.
